# Bezal > Bezal is a local business directory with an AI assistant, Jewel, that helps people figure out what's wrong and find a local provider to fix it. It covers home services, legal, financial, healthcare, IT and many other categories across the US. ## Main Pages - https://bezal.ai/help: Describe a problem, add photos, and get a diagnosis plus local providers - https://bezal.ai/search: Conversational search for local businesses - https://bezal.ai/{slug}: Public business profiles with ratings, services, hours and a way to send a request - https://bezal.ai/login: Sign in for business owners - https://bezal.ai/signup: Create a business account ## For AI Agents Bezal runs an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server: - MCP manifest: https://bezal.ai/mcp.json - Well-known manifest: https://bezal.ai/.well-known/mcp.json - MCP endpoint (canonical): https://bezal.ai/api/mcp - MCP endpoint (alias for registries that expect /sse): https://bezal.ai/api/mcp/sse - Transport: Streamable HTTP in stateless mode. Send one JSON-RPC message per POST and get a JSON response. Batch arrays are rejected. No session id is issued, and GET returns 405. - Authentication: optional. Send Authorization: Bearer bzl_ for a higher daily limit. The limit belongs to the account, so all of an account's keys share it. Without a key, requests are limited per IP. - Limits: on MCP only tools/call counts against the daily limit. initialize, notifications and tools/list don't. - REST API docs: https://bezal.ai/developers/docs - OpenAPI spec: https://bezal.ai/api/v1/openapi - API key signup: https://bezal.ai/developers/keys ### What a business result contains Every business result has name, category, city, state, average rating, review count, the provider's Bezal plan (tier) and quote_request_url, which is the business's public Bezal profile. Phone, website, address, hours, photos and coordinates are included only for providers on a paid Bezal plan. The description is included on the Business and Premium plans. Other listings carry an upgrade_note instead. ### Available MCP Tools 1. **search_businesses**: Search local business profiles by name, category, or location. 2. **get_business**: Get the public profile for one business by UUID. For services, use get_service_catalog. 3. **list_categories**: List all business categories in the directory. 4. **request_service**: Send a service request to a business on behalf of a person. The result says delivered: true only when the owner was notified. Businesses that haven't claimed their profile get the request saved, but nobody is notified. 5. **search_by_service**: Find businesses that list a specific service. Use it when you know the exact service rather than the category. 6. **get_reviews**: Get Bezal reviews for a business plus its Google rating and review count. Reviewers are shown as first name and last initial. 7. **get_service_catalog**: Get services and pricing for a business. Falls back to service names when there's no priced catalog. 8. **check_business_availability**: Check whether a business is open on a date, based on its posted opening hours. Hours are shared only for providers on a paid Bezal plan, and other listings come back with open set to "unknown". It doesn't know about bookings. 9. **compare_businesses**: Compare up to 5 businesses side by side on the public fields plus services, BezalRank and whether the profile is claimed. 10. **search_by_city**: Search for businesses in a specific city, optionally filtered by category. Legacy aliases (still supported for existing integrations): `search_providers` for `search_businesses`, `get_provider_details` for `get_business`, `submit_quote_request` for `request_service`. ## Business Profiles A business profile on Bezal may include: - Business name, category, and description - Services offered - Owner name and title - Phone, email, and website - Street address with city, state, and ZIP - Hours of operation - Social media links - Average rating and review count ## Coverage - Businesses across the US.
