About Us The Restaurant In the early 1900’s, Grandpa “Papa” Lim immigrated to America at a young 13 years old from Canton, China during the Gold Rush days. Like many other Chinese, he was seeking better opportunities for his family. He spent some time in California before eventually settling in San Antonio, Texas. By 1932, Grandpa “Papa” Lim saved his earnings and opened Golden Star Café in the heart of downtown San Antonio.
